Story-Pod technology arrives at the Jewish Holocaust Centre

Invitation to Participate

One of the core aims of the Jewish Holocaust Centre is to be innovative. In December this year, we embark on a very exciting chapter, the upgrade of the Holocaust Musem display - a vital link to our long-term vision.

The upgrade will breathe new life into the permanent exhibition including the installation of remarkable new technology - ‘Storypods’. These interactive and user-friendly touch-screen kiosks will enable visitors to explore experiences of some of Melbourne’s survivors of the Holocaust, offering in-depth access and interaction with their stories and primary source documentation.

Through ‘Storypod’ technology, the Holocaust Centre’s valuable collections of audio and video testimonies, artefacts and materials of featured survivors will be merged and housed in a central display source for the first time.

As the physical presence of Holocaust survivors diminishes, it is comforting to now know that their stories still so relevant today are safely stored and primed for use into the future.

Below is an outline of the cost associated with this project.

$15,000 - Design, development and installation of content into each individual Story-Pod
$10,000
- Purchase of one roving Story-Pod touch station for off-site use
$5,000 - Digitisation of photos and original documents
$1,800 - Fund individual Story-Pod screens – per touch screen
$1,000 - Edit survivor testimonies and include video clips – per story

There are naming rights opportunities available in the new Museum for gifts over $20,000.

Your involvement in this vital project will ensure that the tradition continues. To come and view the Centre’s exciting new ‘Storypods’, contact Nicole Brittain 03 9528 1985 or email NicoleB@jhc.org.au.

‘Storypods’ an invaluable educational innovation enabling the tradition of storytelling to meet the ‘ipod’ generation.
