Bram Presser is a lawyer, writer, musician and community activist. His story “Crumbs”, based on his grandfather’s escape from a shtetl in rural Czechoslovakia, won The Age Short Story Award.

Mayor of Thessaloniki to visit Jewish Holocaust Centre. Mayor Yiannis Boutaris calls the liquidation of Thessaloniki’s Jews the “darkest moment in its history”.

The Mayor of Thessaloniki wore a yellow Star of David at his most recent mayoral swearing in ceremony in recognition of the liquidation of the Jews of Thessaloniki. Before the Holocaust, Thessaloniki was home to 80,000 Jews.

Guest Speaker Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chair of B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission, will speak about ‘Old Poisons in New Bottles: The New anti-Semitism and the war against Israel’.

Dr Dvir Abramovich is chair of The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission, The Israel Kipen Lecturer in Hebrew Studies and Director of the Program in Jewish Culture and Society at The University of Melbourne.
